Its hot outside. How hot? Its hard to describe really. The newspapers continue to show the temperature in the high thirties but outside it feels like 50 atleast. Its a furnace out there.
The birds, that I feed each morning, do not come down from the tree if I arrive any later than 6.30 A.M. The leaves of the trees look pale and listless and one day of missing the watering results in the quick demise of all but the hardiest plants...
The expatriate laborers, mostly from the sub continent, toil outside still. Not for them the luxury of retreating to shade. They continue to dig, pour concrete, clean roads and do the zillion other tasks they do to keep the Gulf countries running and their own families fed back home.
Its been a hard summer, personally too, but a quick tour of the garden reminds one of the resilience of nature and the need to strive on and put one's best effort into everything...no matter what the circumstances.
When everything looks jaded and scorched, Zinnia blooms and how !! Have a look.
This yellow beauty seems to test the brilliance of the sunshine

And combines with orange to challenge the heat
Then there is the pristine white in between to calm things down.
My personal favorite is this color that seems to try and strike a balance between the fiery orange/yellows/reds and the cool whites
The red is, mercifully, growing near the white and not the show-offy yellows and oranges.
When the wind is strong they embrace
And when, after nearly 7 days of putting on a spectacular show, the heat finally begins to take its toll these resilient beauties still manage to take a final beautiful bow.
